Executive Committee Meeting (ECM) 9/27/12
Executive Positions: RP assigned as treasurer and KS assigned as secretary. (Who has written these minutes)
Rules: The club rules were signed into effect by president and advisers on September 27, 2012.
Electronic Media: Decided that own website would be formed for electronic media through club funds
Until the website is up and running information will be posted through this blog (With the student's privacy being protected)
Back to School Night: A table will be held at back to school night where parents will be recruited and pamphlets about the club and Action Against Hunger fundraising boxes will be available.
Dues: A petty cash account will be held for the purpose of purchasing supplies when an immediate need arises. Ten dollars ($10) will be requested from each club member to fund this account, to be turned into the advisers.
Membership Requirements: The number of meetings and events needed to attend in order to be considered a member of the club was generally discussed, but no final decision was made.
Events: The idea of a science festival was discussed. This festival will be open to all students in the district and will consist of different levels for different age groups. All other science clubs will be able to be involved in this festival also. This festival will have a more 'fun' atmosphere.
Having an academic competition at the library was also discussed as an opportunity for a fundraiser. It can be like "Sheldon vs everyone" except a physics teacher, this can be combined with the dunk the physics teacher idea also. This competition will be more of a serious and academic atmosphere.
A reenactment of the Scopes trial may be held along with the Mock Trial Club and possibly the Living Water Club.
Action Against Hunger: The treasurer proposed that wristbands be bought through the petty cash fund. One hundred dollars ($100) was allotted to the treasurer for the use of purchasing these wristbands, only after they are approved for sale by the school. The $100 will be reimbursed through the sale of the wristbands. Once this $100 will be reimbursed the remaining profits will be given to the Action Against Hunger charity.
Next Meeting:
Committee Fair: A job fair type meeting was proposed in order to expose members to the available committees and also for members to sign up to these committees. This will be decided once the committees are formed and decided.
