ATTN: Committee Fair Meeting Date

On October 16th in the Freshman Cafeteria we will be holding the first annual Committee Fair for Biology and Medical Futures Club! Similar to a career fair, there will be tables for each committee where you can learn about the committee and sign up to participate in the committee and its events.  There will be seven major committees this year.  While all this information and more will be discussed at the meeting, you can also learn and post your own input on the committees as they are posted on this blog.

Committee Fair: Social Events

Social Events Committee:  Sometimes you just want to have fun and hang out with your friends in the club, and that is what this committee is for.  Maybe you'll be the one to organize a huge post testing carnival for the club, book a (educational) trip to the beach, create a field day, or simply plan the best potluck dinner ever.  The possibilities are endless, and with your efforts in this committee, you can create events for EVERYONE to enjoy and socialize at.

Committee Fair: Service

Here's the committee of the day!

Service Committee:  This committee will focus on working towards the scientific betterment of our community.  The biggest project this committee will undertake will be to run a science program at the local public library for middle schoolers that teaches science through hands on activities, which was started over the summer.  

Yes, this actually did happen over the summer.

This committee will also be helping with the blood drive.  Other activities may include volunteer work with other science related clubs, such a community trash pick up or working in a community garden.

Committee Fair: Charity

The first annual committee fair is coming up! To get you excited and thinking about the different committees, a general summary of each committee is going to be posted every day.

Charity/Philanthropy Committee: This committee's work will primarily focus on raising money to donate to established non-profit organizations. Last year, work was done for the Action Against Hunger charity, and if you want to continue to help with that charity, this is the committee to join! Other possible activities for the members of this committee include donating money to organizations such as the American Cancer Society, Doctors Without Borders, etc., and participating in events such as the Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society
