Lecture Series Presenters

Upcoming in the next few weeks will be a series of lectures on topics ranging from neurological disorders to the process of applying to medical school.  We are seeking presenters, so if you would like to present on a topic related to biology or medical futures, please email us at biomedfuturesclub@gmail.com within the next week.  This is a great opportunity to practice your public speaking skills!

We hope you had a great spring break!

There will be a general meeting for all club members tomorrow, April 2nd in C204, which will be the beginning of our lecture series which will be every Tuesday through May 28th.  The topics include the discussion of various diseases and medical charities.  Please remember that 67% attendance is required to remain a member of the club.

Shadow a Pharmacy Student Day!

Hi! There is a program called at Rutgers called Shadow a Pharmacy Student Day! It's an opportunity to have an actual pharmacy student guide you through some classes and meet some of the faculty members. You can also get to know what it's like to have a career in pharmacy! Biology Olympiad

Anyone who is interested in taking part in Biology Olympiad, a series of competitions against other schools, can click here. Keep in mind that this competition is tough, so it would help if you are taking AP Biology this year. Please register sooner than later, so we have more time to prepare for competition! There will also be an information packet available soon, and when they come out, you may ask the AP Biology teachers for one.

Mock Medical School Interview

Tomorrow we will be interviewing one of the board members in a mock medical school interview! Come to compliment, critique, and find general amusement as well as learn what kind of questions you may be asked entering into medical school and what kind of responses would be expected.

Upcoming Events

Dear Members,

We have an upcoming fundraiser, the BioPop Sale! We will be selling cake pops and fudge pops after school at all bus exits on December 12th-14th, and in order to make this work, we're asking for volunteers, and lots of them! If you click this link you will see the amount of people we need for each task, and you can sign up to help by either emailingbiomedfuturesclub@gmail.com which slot you want to help with, or commenting directly on the google doc and we'll add your name in.  If you have already signed up somewhere, please email or comment in order to secure your spot.  Helping with this event will count towards club membership.

Also, mark your calenders! On December 18th, we will be holding a mock medical school interview of one of the executive board members, in which you will be allowed to watch and critique his/her interview, and afterwards we will take volunteers of anyone else who would like to try.  This will be held in C302, C204 or C208 pending attendance.  Attending this event will count towards club membership.

Upcoming Meetings 11/28/12

On 11/28/12, the Social events, fundraising, and charity committee will be meeting together in order to plan and organize a cake pop/chocolate pop fundraiser.  The Local events committee will also be meeting to finalize science fair plans and plan a trivia night.

Also, due to weather concerns, practice MCATs and mock interviews will be offered again on another date (TBA).
