Guest Speaker Meeting, Future Meetings

Hi Guys!
Today, we had a guest speaker- Ms. Rebecca Tantala from the National Tay Sachs Organization.  If you wish to get in touch with her because you have questions or want additional information, her email address is info@tay-sachs.org, and please feel free to contact her.  Also, the video that we encourage everyone to see is www.tay-sachs.org/irish_taysachs_study.php, It is only about four minutes long and is a very moving story about a family with Tay Sachs disease and how to help.

Also, just a reminder:

May 28th- We have a series of presenters on a range of topics, from how to get into medical school to biotechnology to cancer- and other presentations as well!

June 4th- Elections! Even if you are not running for a position, club members should come to learn about different careers in biology or medicine and vote for their future executive board members.

Election Procedures

Hi guys!
Here are the election procedures. They will also be available on http://biologyandmedicalfutures.blogspot.com/.  Furthermore, please note that there are four spots up for election, and candidates do not run for any particular spot.

Election Procedures for the 2013-2014 School Year Executive Board

During Elections on June 4, 2013, four candidates will be elected to the executive board. Candidates run to be an executive member rather than run for a specific position.

In order to run for the executive board, you must meet/accomplish the following requirements:

1) You must have been a member of the club the previous year.  This includes meeting the attendance requirements, paying all necessary dues and Pay to Participate, and have a membership form on file.

2) You must be able to fulfill the duties of being on the executive board.  The advisers reserve the right to make any changes regarding the executive board.

3) You must create a 2 minute presentation about a career in biology or medicine. It does not necessarily have to be the career you wish to pursue.

The aspects you can focus on include, but are not limited to:

Education necessary,

Topics related to the career,

Experiences of people in the field,

etc.

You are allowed to have a visual aid/notecards, but in order to streamline the transitions between presenters, you will not be able to use the projector for PowerPoints, Prezis, etc.

4) Please email your topic of choice to crystal.burnett@sbschools.org and biomedfuturesclub@gmail.com.

5) You will also need to sign up in Mr. Burnett's room (C204) for further instructions.
